Saint Thérèse of Lisieux
Feast day: October 1
Patron of missions, florists, and the little way
Life
Entering Carmel at fifteen, Thérèse lived a hidden life of ordinary love, discovering her 'little way' of childlike trust in God's mercy. Dying of tuberculosis at twenty-four, she promised to spend her heaven doing good on earth. Her autobiography, Story of a Soul, made her a Doctor of the Church.
Prayer
Saint Thérèse, teach us your little way — to do small things with great love — and shower us with roses from your place in heaven. Amen.
