Read the Catholic Bible online
Sacred Scripture Catholic is a Catholic Bible you can read, mark, and pray with — the complete Douay-Rheims and Latin Vulgate, every book and chapter from Genesis to Apocalypse, in a quiet reader built for attention.
What is the Catholic Bible?
The Catholic Bible is the full canon of Scripture recognised by the Catholic Church: 73 books, 46 in the Old Testament and 27 in the New. Alongside the books shared with other Christians it includes the deuterocanonical books — Tobit, Judith, Wisdom, Sirach, Baruch, and 1 and 2 Maccabees — together with the longer Greek passages of Esther and Daniel.
Which Catholic Bible translation does this app use?
The Douay-Rheims, the classic English Catholic Bible translated from the Latin Vulgate, and the Latin Vulgate of St Jerome itself. Both contain the whole Catholic canon and can be read side by side.
Can I read the Catholic Bible offline?
Yes. Once installed, the Catholic Bible and your notes, highlights and bookmarks are kept on your device, so you can read and pray without a connection.
