Saint John the Baptist
Feast day: June 24
Patron of baptism, converts, and those who speak truth to power
Life
The last and greatest of the prophets, John was called from the womb to prepare the way of the Lord. He preached repentance in the desert, baptized Christ in the Jordan, and pointed Him out as the Lamb of God. For rebuking Herod, he was imprisoned and beheaded — a witness to the cost of truth.
Prayer
Saint John the Baptist, pray that we may decrease so Christ may increase, and have the courage to bear faithful witness in our own day. Amen.
